Shipping Ministry opens flood control room

Deputy Secretary of Shipping Ministry Abdus Sattar will coordinate and maintain the control room

The Shipping Ministry has opened a control room on Sunday to monitor the flood situation and collection information on vessel movement.

The control room located at the secretariat will remain open from 8am to 10pm till July 18, said an official release.

The ministry has instructed to provide information through a hotline number (9515551).

Deputy Secretary of Shipping Ministry Abdus Sattar will coordinate and maintain the control room. A mobile number has been given to contact him as 01711425230.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Sunday asked the deputy commissioners (DCs) to remain alert to tackle flood.

Ministry of Water Resources opened a flood control room at the Secretariat on July 12 and provided a hotline number (029570028).

The overall flood situation in northern and northeastern districts worsened as heavy rains and onrush of water from the upstream continued on Sunday.
