Shab-e-Meraj to be observed on 11 Mar

The holy Shab-e-Meraj will be observed across the country on the night of 11 March.
The National Moon Sighting Committee made the decision on Friday evening at a meeting held at the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram in Dhaka, said a press release.
Additional Secretary to the religious affairs ministry Md Altaf Hossain Chowdhury chaired the meeting.
On the night of 26 Rajab – seventh month in the Islamic calendar – every year, Muslims observe Shab-e-Meraj, marking the special journey of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to meet Allah.
The Muslim devotees offer special prayers all night at mosques and homes seeking blessings of Allah for the welfare of the entire nation and the Muslim community.
Different Islamic organisations arrange special prayers and milad mahfils at mosques and other places to seek blessings of the Almighty Allah.
As the Rajab moon was sighted nowhere in the sky across the country on Friday, the month will begin on 14 February, the release added.
