Shab-e-Barat on 29 March

The holy Shab-e-Barat will be observed across the country on 29 March with due religious fervor.

The National Moon Sighting Committee made the decision at a meeting at the Islamic Foundation office at Baitul Mukarram in the evening, reads a Islamic Foundation handout. 

Secretary of the Religious Affairs Ministry Md Nurul Islam chaired the meeting . 

The committee came to the decision as the Shaban moon was not sighted in the sky on Sunday evening. Therefore, the holy month of Shaban starts on Tuesday. The holy Shab-e-Barat will be observed in the country on the night of 29 March.

The day after Shab-e-Barat is a public holiday as per government executive order. This year the holiday will be observed on 30 March. 

Muslim devotees will offer special prayers, recite from the holy Quran, hold milads, zikr and perform other religious rituals throughout the night, seeking divine blessings for the wellbeing of mankind.
