I feel very good after handing over my piggy bank savings

A schoolgirl in Rajshahi named Mahida Chowdhury Srabanti, 14, has donated the money she saved in her piggy bank to the Prime Minister's relief fund.

Srabanti, a 9th grader of Agrani High School in Rajshahi, handed over her piggy bank to Md Hamidul Hoque, deputy commissioner of Rajshahi district, on Sunday morning.

The deputy commissioner expressed his gratitude to her for standing beside people during this crisis.

Srabanti said that during this shutdown she spent most of her time at home studying or watching television.

While watching news on the television, she saw that many people came forward and sent financial assistance to the Prime Minister's relief fund. This inspired her to donate her savings to the relief fund.

Srabanti said, "I have come here with my uncle to hand over the piggy bank. I have been saving money in this bank for almost a year. I think there is around 10-15 thousand taka in the bank.

"My parents gave me the money from time to time and I saved them in my bank. I feel very good after handing over the piggy bank to the deputy commissioner."

Deputy commissioner Hamidul Hoque said, "Her donation will enable us help the hungry. Her sacrifice will inspire others to serve humanity."

Counting the money, the deputy commissioner found that there was Tk12,762 in the bank.
