Saturia UNO posted a status on the Facebook account of ‘Upazila Administration Saturia, Manikganj’ expressing his strict stance on wearing masks

In Manikganj's Saturia, the upazila administration has taken a strict stance on the residents, who will not wear masks, following the government's 'No mask, no service' policy.

The administration is considering fines as punishment.

Besides, it is raising awareness among people to make them interested in using masks.

Saturia Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Ashraful Alam gave a status on the Facebook account of 'Upazila Administration Saturia, Manikganj' in this regard on Wednesday night.

The post read, "Dear residents of Saturia, I am looking forward to having a courtesy meeting with you at the beginning of the second wave of coronavirus. It is up to you whether you wear masks or not. We used to give free masks to those who did not wear masks earlier. From now on, those who wear masks will be given free masks."

In his status, he requested the people, who will come to the Haat on Thursday, to wear masks.

Otherwise, they will have to bring at least Tk500 with them in the market, the Uno warned in the post.

Many local people reacted positively to the status on social media.

UNO Ashraful Alam told The Business Standard, "Many people gather at Saturia Haat on Thursday. So I gave the post on Facebook to increase the use of masks to protect people from contracting Covid-19 on the Haat Bar."
