Former mayor of the undivided Dhaka City Corporation Sadeque Hossain Khoka is in a critical condition. 

Doctors at the Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York have given up hope on Khoka making any recovery, said media reports, referring to Khoka's son. 

Khoka's final wish was to return to Bangladesh, but he does not have any passport now. 

Khoka and his wife submitted their passports to the Bangladesh mission in the US for renewal, but they have not got back their passports yet. 

The former vice-chairman of BNP went to New York on May 14, 2014 for lungs cancer treatment. He stayed in Queens of New York as per the suggestion of his doctor.

Khoka's family sought thoughts and prayers from the people of Bangladesh for his recovery.
