RU teacher suspended for allegedly defaming Nasim

A Rajshahi University (RU) teacher has been suspended for allegedly defaming former health minister Mohammad Nasim, who died on June 13.

The decision was taken after a meeting held at the Vice-Chancellor's residence of the university on Saturday morning.

RU Vice-Chancellor Prof M Abdus Sobhan said, "We had temporarily suspended Kazi Zahidur Rahman, an assistant professor of Department of Computer Science and Engineering of Rajshahi University from the day of his arrest on June 18. It has been done according to the law."

Professor Zahidur was the former research and information secretary of Narail Awami League. He posted several statuses on the social media regarding various irregularities in the health sector indicating the former health minister.

He was arrested from his residence around 2:00 am on June 18 after a case was filed with Motihar Police Station against him under Digital Security Act.

Advocate Tapos Kumar Saha, a resident of Sagorpara area of Rajshahi city, lodged the case against the teacher.
