Rohingya NID fraud: 2 more election commission officials arrested
Earlier, four Election Commission officials were also arrested in connection with the NID fraud
Police on Tuesday arrested two Election Commission staff from Chattogram for allegedly helping Rohingyas get National Identity Card (NID) of Bangladesh.
The arrestees have been identified as Abul Khair Bhuiyan, 45, an upper division assistant at the Chattogram District Election Office, and Anwar Hossain, 45, an office assistant at the Mirsharai Upazila Election Office.
Rajesh Baruwa, an inspector of the Counter Terrorism and Transitional Unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, said they sought from court a 10-day remand of the duo for questioning in a case filed with the Kotwali police station.
Earlier, four Election Commission officials were also arrested in connection with the NID fraud.
