Robber leader killed in Teknaf ‘gunfight’  

Teknaf's top robber Nurul Amin, 30, was killed in an alleged gunfight with Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) at Nuralipara Hills in Cox's Bazar today.

The deceased is identified as Amin Dakat, who hailed from Leda of Hnila union.

RAB-15 Teknaf Camp in-charge Lt Mirza Shahed Mahtab said, "RAB launched a raid on the information that a gang of robbers had taken position in the Nuralipara area of Leda in Hnila. The robbers opened fire on the RAB members sensing their presence.

Two members of the RAB were injured. The RAB also opened fire in self-defense."

"After the fight, the RAB members rescued an injured robber and took him to Teknaf Hospital where the doctor declared him dead. The body was then sent to Cox's Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsy. There he was identified as Amin Dakat," he added.

Two guns four fresh cartridges, three empty pellets, 11 Burmese MPT SIM cards, and one Bangladeshi Teletalk SIM card were recovered from the scene.

Lt Mirza added, "The robbers hiding in the hills adjacent to the Rohingya camps have become reckless again. They regularly commit crimes like drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping. The raids against them will continue."
