Traffic resumed on the Dhaka-Sylhet and the Dhaka-Chattogram highways on Wednesday afternoon after protesting workers, who had been blocking the two highways in Narayanganj's Chashara area, moved away.

Jishan Haque, senior assistant superintendent of Highway Police confirmed this to the Business Standard.

"They were trying to vandalise my vehicle in the morning in the Kanchpur area on the highway, but after several attempts we managed to move them from there. Now the road is clear, but there are very few vehicles on it," he added.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan is going to meet the leaders of the Bangladesh Truck & Covered-Van Owners and Workers Unity Council at 9pm on Wednesday to discuss the strike they called following the enforcement of the Road Transport Act 2018.
