Public transport shutdown extended till May 5

Bangladesh government has further extended the shutdown of public transports till May 5 to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus in the country.

A press release of the Road Transport and Highways Division made the disclosure Friday. Earlier on Thursday, the ongoing general holidays were extended till May 5. 

However, vehicles of emergency services, goods, medicines, fuel, daily essentials and relief will remain out of purview of the shutdown.

Besides, the aforesaid vehicles will not be allowed to carry passengers, the release adds.

So far 131 people have died from the virus in the country and 4,689 got infected.
