Bangladesh shuts down public transports

Bangladesh has shut down all public transports from March 26 to April 4 amid the fears of novel coronavirus spread in the country.

A press release of Road Transport and Highway Division made the disclosure today.

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader issued the instruction on a video conference, said the release.

However, truck and covered van carrying medicine, emergency services, fuel oil and perishable goods will remain out of this prohibition. But these vehicle will not be allowed to carry any passenger.

Earlier in the day, the government suspended local, mail and commuter trains, and inland waterway services to curb the spread of coronavirus.

Bangladesh confirmed four deaths from the novel coronavirus and 39 cases till date.
