Reception accorded to 30 Indian members of Allied Force

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has accorded reception to 30 Indian members of the Allied Force who fought in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971.
During the event at a Dhaka hotel on Saturday night, Liberation War Affairs Minister AKM Mozammel Haque said, "Bangladesh will forever remember India's contribution in the Liberation War."
Recalling the contribution of then Indian Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, he said Bangladesh could not have become independent within such a short time if India had not provided shelter, food and training to about 10 million people.
The Minister said Bangladesh duly respects the friends of 1971. He mentioned that a memorial is being constructed at Ashuganj in Brahmanbaria in memory of the Indian soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the freedom of Bangladesh.
A team consisting of the Indian members of the Allied Force led by Major General (retd) Narayan Shankar Nair came to Bangladesh at the invitation of the government on the occasion of the birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and the golden jubilee of independence.
