A three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the verdict today

The International Crimes Tribunal (ICT) sentenced Rajshahi's razakar Abdus Sattar alias Tipu Sultan to death over his involvement in crimes against humanity during the Liberation War in 1971.

A three-member tribunal led by Justice Md Shahinur Islam passed the verdict today.

On October 17, the tribunal kept the verdict waiting after both the prosecution and defence counsels completed their arguments in the case.

Prosecutor Mukhlesur Rahman Badal, Sabina Yasmin Khan Munni and Tapos Kanti Bol represented the state while Ghazi MH Tamim stood for the accused.

Razakar Tipu, now in jail, was involved in the killing of at least 10 people, torturing two people and looting and arson at twelve to thirteen houses in areas under Boalia Police Station of Rajshahi.

In 2018, the tribunal framed two charges against him.
