The field-level employees of Rangamati district administration have been observing work abstention since 15 November demanding their promotion and improvement of their salary grades.
Today, they carried out a sit-in programme in front of Rangamati Deputy Commissioner's Office.
The programme is also being carried out in 10 upazilas and land offices of the district over the same demands.
Leaders of the employees alleged that the staff at the field-level administration were living in subhuman conditions with low salaries as their pay-scales were not improved.
If the demands were not met by 30 November, the employees would go to Dhaka and continue the programme there, they said.
Due to the strike, the work of different departments under the district administration has been interrupted.
People, who are coming from different upazilas of the district for taking different services, are in trouble.
