Rain brings mercury down in city
Day temperature may rise slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country in the next 24 hours commencing from 6 pm on Saturday.
A much needed relief from the scorching heat came to the city dwellers as parts of the capital witnessed light shower on Saturday evening.
The shower began around 5:30 pm with temporary gusty wind bringing comforts as the city experienced sweltering heat the whole day.
Although Met Office earlier predicted shower in many places across the country including Dhaka but it also warned that the temperature may rise.
The highest temperature in the country was recorded in Rajshahi with 37 degree Celsius and 36.1 degree Celsius recorded in Dhaka on Saturday, according to the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD).
Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty or squally wind is likely to occur at a few places over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at one or two places over Rangpur, Barishal, Khulna & Chattogram divisions, BMD predicted.
Besides, a mild heat wave is sweeping over Dhaka, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions and the regions of Rangamati, Chandpur, and Sayedpur and it may continue, the Met office said.
