Railway to stop ticket sale after 11 April

The Bangladesh Railway authorities have instructed all concerned to stop selling or booking tickets of inter-city trains after 11 April until further notice. 

The restriction is said to take effect on 1 April to curb the spread of Covid-19, said a notice from Bangladesh Railway. 

The notice signed by Bangladesh Railway Deputy Director Md Nahid Hasan Khan said the decision was made adjusting with the set of new restrictions amid the rising cases of the novel coronavirus in the country.

Bangladesh on Wednesday reported 5,358 new cases in the last 24 hours, which is the highest in a single day to date. 

Besides, the country reported 52 more deaths, the highest daily figure since 26 August last year from the deadly virus.

Besides, fatalities from the virus infection have surpassed 9,000-mark in the country. The number of Covid-19 cases now stands at 611,295.
