Rail communication between Dhaka and the country’s northern and southern districts resumed at 4pm on Friday as a Khulna-bound train derailed on the Bangabandhu Bridge this afternoon.
The wheels of a compartment of the Khulna-bound intercity train Sundarban Express derailed near the East corner of the bridge around 1:30pm, Bangladesh Railway sources said.
On information, a rescue team reached the spot and salvaged the derailed compartment after two and half an hours of the derailment, they added.
