Two individuals were detained for not having the permit to consume alcohol

The Department of Narcotics Control raided bars in Gulshan area in the capital on Tuesday night. 

The department raided Ruchita and Koreana bars in the area and detained two people from Ruchita Bar till the filing of this report. 

"We are conducting drives in the bars to determine whether these businesses are being run legally or not," said Khorshed Chancal, assistant director at the Narcotics Control Department.

"We arrested two individuals for not having the permit to consume alcohol and we have also found the Koreana bar closed," he added.

Meanwhile, police raided residential hotels in Paltan and Motijheel area in the capital.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Motijheel zone conducted the drive, Mishu Biswas, assistant commissioner of Motijheel zone, confirmed the matter to the Business Standard. 

"Acting on a tip-off, we are raiding the residential hotels. If any illegal activities are found there, we will take legal action," he added.
