RAB officer’s wrist blown off while disposing bombs

A member of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) lost one of his hands while disposing of bombs at Abhoynagar upazila in Jashore on Sunday.

The victim is RAB officer, Shahidul Islam, corporal (sergeant) at Khalishpur RAB-6 in Khulna.

Tajul Islam, officer in charge of Abhoynagar Police Station said that seven bombs, which were seized in February, were being kept at the police station premises pending disposal. When the disposal team was working on the first bomb, it exploded suddenly, blowing off Shahidul's left hand at the wrist.

Shahidul has been admitted to the Jashore Combined Medical College and Hospital.
