Probe report on Chawkbazar fire due on October 3
A total of 71 people were killed and many more injured in the devastating fire that originated from a building named Wahed Mansion
A Dhaka court has set October 3 for the submission of probe report in a case filed over the devastating fire incident that ravaged Chawkbazar area in the capital on February 20.
Dhaka Additional Metropolitan Magistrate Keshab Roy Chowdhury set the date on Thursday after a hearing session, as Officer-in-Charge of Chawkbazar police station and investigation officer of the case had failed to submit the report by then.
A total of 71 people were killed and many more injured in the devastating fire that originated from a building named Wahed Mansion.
A local named Asif filed the case with Chawkbazar police station over the loss of life and property in the fire, accusing the owners of Wahed Mansion as responsible for the fire.
The case document states that two owners of Wahed Mansion, Md Hasan and his brother Sohel, in order to make monetary gain, rented out their building as warehouse of chemicals and inflammable materials despite being fully aware of the fire risk their act posed.
