Probe Body formed over CU violence

Chittagong University authorities on Thursday formed a three-member committee to probe into the incidents of violence that took place on the campus in the last few days.

The committee has been asked to submit its report as early as possible, said Professor Dr Shyamal Ranjan Chakraborty, convener of the probe committee.

Assistant Registrar Md Hossain and Assistant Proctor Md Ahsanul Kabir were made member secretary and member respectively of the probe body.

On November 30, clashes erupted between two factions of Chhatra League over sitting in the TV room at Suhrawardy Hall of the university.

Tension further escalated as some miscreants attacked two Chhatra League leaders on December 1 in the adjacent area of the university.

Agitated students also vandalised vehicles on the same day.

Two groups of Chhatra League filed cases against each other on Wednesday with Hathazari Model Police Station over the clashes.
