Police have rearrested a man convicted with life term jail in a murder case after he fled from Rajshahi Central Jail on Monday.

The convict is Umar Kisku, son of Shahed Kisku from Shimladighi area in Godagari upazila. Umar Kisku was sentenced to a life-term in the murder-case of a woman, named Mariam, in 2011, said Shahadat Hossain Khan, officer-in-charge at Rajpara Police Station.

The OC said, Umar was serving his jail-term since he had been convicted and sentenced to jail. Being aware that he had fled the jail, concerned authorities informed Razapara Police Station. Afterwards, police arrested him on Dinga-Duba rail crossing in the city, as he was on his way to home.

Later, he was sent to jail, once again, through a court.

Altab Hossain, deputy inspector general (DIG) at the Rajshahi Central Jail, said that investigation is going on regarding how he fled the jail.
