Prisoner escapes from jail
Three police personnel have been closed for negligence in duty over the incident
A prisoner, who was arrested for possessing yaba on Friday, escaped from Patiya Police Station on Saturday morning.
Officer-in-Charge of Patiya Police Station Borhan Uddin said police arrested Laizu Begum from near the post-office at Patiya on Friday afternoon noticing her suspicious behaviour. At one stage, she confessed carrying yaba pills in her stomach and police brought her to the Patiya Police Station. Later, 1900 pieces of yaba found in her stomach.
Three police personnel have been closed for negligence in duty over the incident. They are Assistant Sub-Inspector Shamsuddin Bhuiya and Constables Md Riaz and Mamtaz Begum.
Assistant Superintendent of Police Afrazul Haque Tutul said the process is underway to take departmental action against them.
