The Ministry of Post and Telecommunication has sent Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, director general (DG) of the postal department, on a forced leave on allegations of embezzling Tk 540.94 crore.
The Ministry took the decision based on the information of preliminary investigation, says a Post and Telecommunication Ministry press release.
The ministry sent him on a forced leave from November 11 until further notice, according to the postal department notice.
Earlier, on September this year, the Anti- Corruption Commission (ACC) interrogated Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra on allegations of irregularities and corruption in the procurement of the project, money laundering to India and illegal acquisition of wealth beyond known sources of income.
There are allegations that he did not keep wealth in his own name but in the name of his relatives.
