The incumbent mayor of Chattogram has been denied nomination from the ruling party for the upcoming city polls

Chattogram City Corporation Mayor AJM Nasir Uddin on Tuesday claimed he became a victim of conspiracy not to get nominated by his party for the forthcoming city election.

He said this while talking to journalists at Chattogram Press Club.

"I risked my life sticking to the Awami League's political ideology. I protested the killing of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and his family members; I actively participated in the movement against the autocratic regimes; I worked hard to get the educational institutes in Chattogram rid of Shibir," he said.

"I also became the victim of lies, dirty politics, propaganda, and conspiracies against me," he added.
He said, "The rank of mayor doesn't matter to me. What matters is doing politics. If anyone told me to leave the duty as a mayor, I would've left that."

"I did not hold any grudges towards anyone. I started as an activist and came to this position," he further said.

AJM Nasir Uddin is also the general secretary of Chattogram Awami League.

One of the controversies regarding the mayor was a photograph of him with a person who is allegedly the brother of one of the killers of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.

"The photograph was taken when I went to the inauguration programme of a shop in Oxyzen Mor area of the city. I don't even know that person. I have never met him before," Nasir explained.
