Hartal supporters have vandalised and set fire to Khatihata highway police station in Brahmanbaria's Sarail upazila today.

Confirming the matter to The Business Standard, Officer-in-Charge of the police station Gazi Shakhwat Hossain said that he along with four other cops were injured in the attack.

"Hartal supporters attacked the station suddenly. They first vandalised the police station and later set it on fire. The attackers were wearing Punjabi," the OC added.

Earlier, picketers attacked the Brahmanbaria branch of Bank Asia today during the daylong hartal.

The activists of Hefazat-e-Islam Bangladesh went berserk in Brahmanbaria today as they attacked Jela Parishad, district Awami League, press club and municipality offices during hartal.

They also vandalised and set fire to a number of government offices there.

The Islamist group has enforced daylong hartal today protesting over the deaths of its activists in Chattogram and Brahmanbaria in police action, and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Bangladesh visit.
