The health condition of Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad, now undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here, continues to improve, his brother GM Quader said on Saturday.

"Doctors said his condition improved 50 percent in the last three days," he said while talking to reporters at the CMH in the morning.

Quader, also the acting chairman of Jatiya Party, voiced satisfaction over the treatment provided by the CMH to Ershad.

"Palli Bandhu (Ershad) is being given treatment assessing the reports of his some medical tests, and he is gradually recovering," the Jatiya Party acting chairman said.

He also hoped that the trend of improvement in Ershad's health condition will continue.

Quader urged people to pray for the speedy recovery of his brother.

Ershad, also the leader of the opposition in parliament, was admitted to the CMH on Wednesday morning as his condition deteriorated.

The 89-year-old former military ruler has been suffering from various old age complications, including low haemoglobin and liver problem, high bilirubin and serious keen pain.

He became inactive in politics and was hardly seen in any programme since mid-November last due to his illness.

Ershad received treatment aboard and at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) here at different times over the last eight months.
