The ruling Awami League-backed mayoral candidate, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh submitted his nomination form today to contest the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) mayoral poll.

Awami League Leaders Abdur Rahman, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Mahbub-ul-Alam Hanif and Jubo League president Sheikh Fazle Shams Parash were present during the submission of the form.

Earlier, Awami League picked Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh Islam as its mayoral candidates for the DSCC election poll.

On December 29, Taposh resigned as Dhaka-10 lawmaker to contest the mayoral polls.

Born in 1971, Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh, a member of Bangabandhu family, was elected as a member of the Parliament from Dhaka-10 constituency for the third consecutive term in 2018.

The elections to the city corporations will be held on January 30 next year.
