The Dhaka Metropolitan Police has been asked to plan duty rotation for 'Golapbagh Playground' ahead of BNP's 28 October grand rally, DMP sources said.

Wishing anonymity, an official from the DMP's operations division, responsible for the deployment and security of rallies, protests, and political events, told The Business Standard that they have been instructed to plan the duty rotation for the personnel assigned to the 'Golapbagh Playground' venue.

"We are aware that BNP is likely to receive permission for the rally at the playground, given that they organised one on 10 December last year," said the DMP insider.

When asked, Nazmur Raihan, special assistant to the DMP commissioner, stated that they haven't given final approval for the venue yet.

Once the decision is made, both the media and the BNP will be informed shortly, he added.
Wishing anonymity, an additional deputy commissioner of DMP's Wari Division (Golapbagh playground falls under the area) told TBS that they have received instructions to prepare the field for use.

According to several sources, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police held a special meeting on Thursday to determine the venue for the BNP's grand rally on 28 October.

An official who attended the meeting said various options were considered, with a focus on selecting a safer venue to prevent any violence or disruption to the city.
