BNP leader Swapan hospitalised after cardiac arrest in Bangkok

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) central leader and former lawmaker Zahir Uddin Swapan has been admitted to a Bangkok hospital after he suffered a cardiac arrest.

Swapan, chief coordinator of BNP's media cell, is now undergoing treatment at the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of Samitivej Sukhumvit Hospital in Bangkok. A stent has been installed in his left artery. 

According to family sources, Swapan went to Bangkok's Samitivej Hospital for a health check up on 5 August. During the examination, it was discovered that he had a significant blockage in his left artery. Then the doctors placed a stent in the artery.

He is now in a stable and healthy condition.

When he was reached for an update about his health on Tuesday afternoon, he humbly requested prayers and support from the countrymen. 

BNP media cell member Shahid Uddin Chowdhury Annie said the party's Acting Chairman inquired about Swapan's health. Other central leaders, including Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, are closely monitoring Swapan's health status.
