Police recovered the body of a Polish national from a room at a four-star hotel in Chattogram city today (4 March).

The deceased, Dzislaw Michal Czeryba, came to Chattogram on 24 February from Poland via Dubai, police said.

On behalf of Bigstar, a Poland-based buying house, he was in the city for quality testing of RMG products at a factory named Kentpark in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone.

Mostafizur Rahman, deputy commissioner of Chattogram Metropolitan Police, South Zone, said the hotel authorities grew suspicious after attempts to contact the victim went unanswered.

"Upon gaining access to the room, they discovered the body lying in a pool of blood, with injuries to the head and other parts of the body," he added.

"Various police units, including CMP, PBI, and CID, are investigating to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The mess in the room and the victim's injuries look like something wrong occurred here.

"We are examining CCTV footage and awaiting forensic medical reports for further insights.

Media personnel have been barred from accessing the scene, with law enforcement personnel maintaining a presence on the ninth floor.

The hotel authorities have yet to make any statement over the incident.
