A member of Dhaka Metropolitan Police committed suicide at Mirpur Police Lines in the capital on Thursday morning, said police sources.

The deceased has been identified as Shah Mohammad Abdul Kuddus, 31.

He was a nayek and used to live at a barrack of the Public Order Management (POM) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said Selimuzzaman, officer-in-charge of Kafrul police station.

"Kuddus shot himself in the chest at the barrack field at around 5:45am. Hearing the gunshot, other police members of the barrack rushed to the spot and found him dead," the OC added.

Kuddus posted a status on Facebook regarding his family feud before his death. He might have committed suicide over family feud, suspected other policemen of the barrack.

The deceased's body has been sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital for autopsy.
