Police Superintendent sues own driver for violating traffic rules

Mymensingh Superintendent of Police (SP) filed a case against his driver in connection with reckless driving under the Road Transport Act.

According to traffic police sources, Mymensingh Police SP Md Ahmaruzzaman was heading towards Notun Bazar from Ganginarpar area of Mymensingh city around 9am on Monday.

At that time, the driver of the publicly-owned vehicle that was carrying the police officer violated traffic law, sped up the car and hurriedly crossed the divider.

The police superintendent then immediately ordered to stop the car and informed the traffic department about the traffic violation.

Sergeant Salman Khan reached the spot immediately and filed a case under section 87 of the Road Transport Act and seized the driver's license.

Syed Mahbubur Rahman, Mymensingh traffic inspector, said, "The SP filed a case under the Road Transport Act against his driver Abdul Kuddus for reckless driving. The section under which the case has been filed imposes a maximum fine of Tk10,000."
