Police praised for fighting militancy: IGP

Inspector General of Police Mohammad Javed Patwary said Bangladesh police is successful in implementing the government's zero tolerance policy to fight militancy in the country. 

The role of Bangladesh Police in combating militancy and terrorism has been praised home and abroad, said the inspector general of police (IGP) while addressing as the chief guest at an event titled "Women's Leadership Institute Training" held at the international conference centre of Police Staff College in the capital on Thursday.

US ambassador in Dhaka Earl R Miller was present at the event as the special guest.

Javed Patwary said, "Women are performing their duties very skilfully in cases of controlling, exploring and investigating crimes while working in different units of the police. They have also proved their skills in traffic management." 

Not only in Bangladesh, the honesty and professionalism of our woman police officials working in the United Nation's peacekeeping missions have also been praised worldwide, he added. 

Urging the women police officials to practice the knowledge and skills acquired during the training, the IGP said, the knowledge will make them more skilled in the case of leadership.

Later, he presented certificates among the trainees.

A total of 39 participants including two from Indonesia and one from the USA, six from Pakistan and 30 Bangladeshi female police officials took part in the five-day course.
