Police donate Tk 20 crore to PM's relief fund

Bangladesh Police have donated Tk 20 crore to the Prime Minister's Relief and Welfare Fund to help fight to contain the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Inspector General of Bangladesh Police (IGP) Mohammad Javed Patwary handed over the cheque to the Prime Minister's Principal Secretary Ahmad Kaikaus, on Sunday evening at the PMO. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina attended the event via video conference from Ganabhaban.

The donation of Tk 20 crore from the Bangladesh Police includes one-day salary of all police officers and members, from the Police Constable to the Inspector General, also funds from the Bangladesh Police Service Association and the Police Officers Mess and the Police Welfare Fund.

RAB Director General Benazir Ahmed, Additional IGP (Administration and Operations) Md Mainur Rahman Chowdhury, Additional IG of SB Mir Shahidul Islam, DMP Commissioner and President of Bangladesh Police Service Association Md Shafiqul Islam, Superintendent of Police of Narayanganj and general secretary of Bangladesh Police Service Association Zayedul Alam, president and general secretary of Bangladesh Police Association were present on the occasion.
