Poet Nirmalendu Goon, who won Ekushey Padak, Independence Day Award and Bangla Academy Literary Award, was hospitalized yesterday due to Pneumonia along with fever.

Family sources said the poet is being treated under the supervision of Prof Baren Chakraborty at Labaid Specialised Hospital in the city as he has been suffering from Pneumonia as well as fever for a few days.

After admission, he was shifted to Coronary Care Unit (CCU) as he is also facing kidney-related problems, they said.

Physical condition of the poet is improving gradually, Doctor Chakraborty told BSS, adding he has been asked not to talk to anybody.
