44 individuals, companies receive Bangabandhu Krishi Award

A total of 44 individuals and organisations have received the Bangabandhu Krishi Award for the Bangla years 1425, and 1426.

Agriculture ministry handed over the awards to the recipients at a programme organised on Wednesday at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the city where the Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was present virtually. 

Veterinary Surgeon of Sherpur upazila of Bogura Dr Md Raihan received the gold medal for his invention of a commercially farming model of local chicken called 'Swapna Chhoar Siri'.    

About 1,500 commercial poultry farms were set up following his model which provided livelihood to about 10,000 families. Besides, these farms have been producing biogas and organic fertiliser from the poultry waste. 

A total of 15 persons were awarded for the Bangla year 1425 and 29 persons and organisations for the Bangla year 1426.

Godagari Upazila Agriculture Officer Shafiqul Islam received the gold medal in eco-friendly technology innovation/use category, while Amirul Islam, a farmer from Iswardi of Pabna also received the gold medal for commercial farming of poultry and livestock.    

Besides, Badrul Haider of Pirojpur received the silver medal in the innovation of eco-friendly technology/use category, along with Pakundia Deputy Agriculture Officer Hamidul Haq. 

Sharmin Akter from Jhenidah received the silver medal for her contribution to agriculture by using new technology, Dulal Mridha of Atgharia in Pabna received silver medal for his contribution to high quality seed production, preservation, distribution and setting up of nursery in the organisation/cooperatives/farmer category.      

Kobbad Hossain of Savar and Moniruzzaman Monir of Godagari in Rajshahi also received the silver medal for setting up a commercial farm while Paramount Agro Ltd also got the silver medal in the organisation category.
