“It proves that the prime minister will not tolerate any such attacks"

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina did not take well the attack on Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Vice President Nurul Haque Nur, said Awami League Presidium member and former General Secretary of Ducsu Matia Chowdhury on Monday.

For that reason, when the AL president received the news of the attack she sent a team comprising the party's Presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak and Joint Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim to see Nur, said Matia, former general secretary of Ducsu.

"It proves that the prime minister will not tolerate any such attacks," said the former agriculture minister while speaking to The Business Standard over the phone.

Everyone should remember that upon various complaints, Chhatra League's president and general secretary were removed and Al Nahian Khan Joy and Lekhak Bhattacharya were given the charge of the student organisation, she added. "This kind of incidents are rare in Bangladesh."

She added, "Still there was an attack on Nur. We have come to know that the president and the general secretary were not responsible for this attack. Then who carried out the attack? Efforts are underway to identify the attackers."
