If any conflict of interest arises anywhere that should be dealt properly through legal process

A country cannot function properly without rule of law. Rule of law has been established in Bangladesh. So, people have to keep faith on law.

Health Minister Zahid Maleque came up with the observation at a views exchange meeting with leaders and activists of Awami League at Shuvro Centre in Manikganj town on Saturday.

He said none is above the law. The country runs as per the provisions of law which have been enacted for protection of the people, not to harm them. That is why we have to keep faith in laws.

Calling upon the AL leaders and activists to work unitedly for the development of the country, he said, "If any conflict of interest arises anywhere that should be dealt properly through legal process."

The minister said this country was not independent once. We have liberated the country through a war. Now, we are enjoying the taste of freedom.

"The educational institutions are closed for over a year due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the country. An 8% growth in GDP was expected, but that is not happening as implementation of a wide range of development projects has come to a halt due to the lockdown and different other restrictions imposed to contain the pandemic," Zahid Maleque said, adding that the country will fall further behind if any disorder is created amid this pandemic.

"Therefore, we all must work unitedly for the interest of the country. No matter whatever the profession is, no matter whether one is a minister, lawmaker, government official or a journalist, we all have to work for the prosperity of the country," said the minister.

The country will move forward and peace will be established, if only we all can work together hand in hand," he said, adding that no development is possible by creating chaos.

Manikganj district AL General Secretary Advocate Abdus Salam, Vice-president Advocate Abdul Majid, Joint General Secretary Sultanul Azam Khan Apel, Organising Secretary Sudev Saha and Manikganj Municipal Mayor Ramzan Ali, among others, attended the meeting.
