A power outage hit the Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) in Bogura leaving thousands of patients in immense sufferings early Saturday.

The hospital, where currently more than 2,000 patients including 99 with dengue are being treated, went dark around 7:30am due to load-shedding and generator shutting, said hospital’s Assistant Director Abdul Wazed.

It took four hours to restore the electricity, Wazed added further.

He said the sudden power cut caused severe water crisis in the hospital. The hospital authority used torch lights and a small generator for carrying out emergency tasks.
