The railway has announced that passengers can get refunds for train tickets that were bought for journeys on Sunday (August 11).

Confirming the matter, Railway Secretary Mofazzal Hossain said: “Passengers who had tickets for trains scheduled on Saturday (August 10) will not enjoy the refund privilege.”

However, the Railway Secretary also gave an assurance that schedule collapses would possibly be fixed by Sunday.

The Eid-ul-Adha vacation has become a nightmare for holidaymakers as they have to wait for hours for trains that are running behind schedule.

After the announcement, the advance ticket money is being refunded at counter numbers 1-5 at Kamalapur Railway Station.

Meanwhile, all trains from Kamalapur Station to northern districts have been delayed from 8 to 14 hours.

The Rajshahi-bound train, Dhumketu Express, was delayed by eight hours. It finally departed the station at 2.30 pm Saturday.

The Khulna-bound Sundarban Express was around six hours late, while the Chilahati-bound train Nilshagor Express was around eight hours late.

Another train, the Rangpur Express, was delayed by eight hours.

However, there are comparatively fewer schedule delays on the Sylhet and the Chittagong routes.
