Overturned lorry caused traffic jam in capital

A rod-laden lorry was overturned on Pragati Sarani in North Badda of the capital, halting vehicular movement which caused a traffic jam on the busy road on Monday morning.

It is suspected that the driver of the lorry lost control over the wheels and went up to the gate of Suvastu Nazar Valley Market as locals saw the lorry there since dawn.

The lorry was lying completely horizontally blocking the road and no vehicles could move through Notun Bazar to North Badda road.

This hindered vehicles coming from Kuril Biswaroad, Jamuna Future Park area and they were seen taking a turn at Notun Bazar and running on the opposite side of the road to North Badda.

The incident increased traffic pressure from Rampura, Moddho Badda and Gulshan-1 to the Notun Bazar area.

As a result, traffic jams occurred across Pragati Sarani in the early morning.

However, around 9:50 am, the rods were loaded to another lorry and the road cleared up around 11 am.
