One shot in dispute over mosque committee in Chattogram

“Legal action will be taken once a written complaint is submitted,” said police

A man from Raozan municipality of Chattogram sustained bullet injury in a dispute over the formation of a mosque committee. 

The incident took place around 2.30pm near Abuddar Bari area in Gahira union, said Anowar Hossain Shamim, assistant superintendent of police (ASP) of Rangunia circle. 

The victim, Shahabuddin Khan, 49, has been admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.

The victim's brother Abdullah Al Mamun told The Business Standard that a dispute has been continuing for the last few days over the formation of the committee of Sheikh Ibrahim Jame Mosque. 

"Miscreants shot my brother in his leg today in connection with the dispute," he added.

ASP Anowar said they have locally learned that one was shot centring a mosque committee but could not know the details yet then. 

"Legal action will be taken once a written complaint is submitted," he added.

Meanwhile, Shilbrato Barua, assistant sub-inspector of CMCH Police Outpost, said relatives brought a bullet-hit man to the hospital around 3.30pm. He is now undergoing treatment at the casualty ward of the hospital.
