One held, 343 bottles phensedyl recovered in C’nawabganj

Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) arrested an alleged smuggler and recovered 343 bottles of contraband Indian phensedyl in Chapainawabganj district on Friday.

The arrested was identified as Md Sharif, 30, son of Ahsan Ullah of Gandamara village under Haimchar Upazila in Chandpur district.

BGB sources said, acting on detective information, a team of the BGB from Telkupi border outpost conducted a raid in the frontier Telkupi area around 2am and saw a gang of smugglers coming from Indian side with a plastic bag.

Sensing the presence of the BGB, the smugglers fled away leaving the bag. After searching the bag, the BGB men found the phensedyl bottles.

Later, the bottles of phensedyl were deposited with the Narcotics Control Department.

In another drive, the BGB men arrested Sharif with 198 bottles of phensedyl from a Dhaka-bound coach Ekota Express at Barogharia in Chapainawabganj sadar upazila at 12.40pm.
