One arrested for raping a girl in Satkhira

The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) of Police has arrested a youth on allegation of raping a third-grader in Ashashuni upazila of Satkhira District.

A team of CID arrested Tariqul Islam from East Kashimari village of Shyamnagar on Thursday morning.

The mother of the girl, resident of Nasimabad village of the upazila, said, "Neighbour Tariqul, 18, called up my child to his house saying he would show her pictures on his mobile phone on October 5. Tariqul fled when I rushed to his home after hearing my child's screaming."

Later, the woman filed a case with Ashashuni Police Station under the Women and Child Repression Act. The girl is undergoing treatment at Ashashuni Hospital.

Confirming the matter, CID's Special Police Superintendent Anisur Rahman said, "On information that Tariqul is trying to flee to India crossing border, two CID teams raided the area and arrested him."
