Some illegal occupants have demolished their own establishments after receiving a stern message from Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC) Mayor Barrister Sheikh Fazle Noor Tapas.
They vacated eight illegally constructed shops adjacent to the walls of the newly constructed powerhouse opposite to the central office of the Bangladesh Awami League on Bangabandhu Avenue, reads a press release on Monday.
DSCC Executive Magistrate Irfan Uddin Ahmed supervised the self-motivated evacuation.
"After the city corporation noticed the illegal establishments, it informed the mayor who directed to vacate these illegal establishments by Monday," said Irfan Uddin Ahmed.
The corporation then conveyed a stern message from the DSCC mayor to these illegal occupants, asking them to either vacate the illegal shops themselves or the DSCC would demolish those. Realising the strict approach of the mayor, they vacated the illegal installations on their initiative, he added.
Meanwhile, DSCC Executive Magistrate Mohammad Nazmul Ahsan on Monday conducted a mobile court in Motijheel colony area at Ward-10 of Zone-2 in the 11th day of the combing operation to identify the breeding ground of Aedes mosquito in DSCC areas.
The court inspected eight installations during the operation and filed two cases for finding Aedes mosquito larvae in two installations and collected a fine of Tk70,000 in cash.
