Former land minister Shamsur Rahman Sherif, an Awami League lawmaker from Pabna-4 constituency, passed away at the age of 81.
He breathed his last at the capital's United Hospital early Thursday around 5:30am, confirmed Mahjebin Shirin Piya, daughter of the former minister.
He had been suffering from various old-age ailments and was undergoing treatment at the hospital's ICU for the last several days.
The five-time MP was the president of Pabna district unit Awami League.
Sherif, also a freedom fighter, left behind his wife, four sons, five daughters and a host of relatives to mourn his death.
