Beximco Pharma Production Director dies of Covid-19

Beximco Pharma Production Director ARM Zahidur Rahman died of coronavirus at a city hospital Wednesday. He was 59. 

Zahid tested Covid-19 positive and had been treated at the hospital since last Tuesday, said a press release.  

The departed completed his M Pharm from Dhaka University in 1983 and he almost spent his entire professional career, which spanned over 30 years, in Beximco Pharma.  

Expressing his condolences, the managing director of Beximco Pharma Nazmul Hassan MP said, "We are deeply saddened by the untimely loss of Zahidur Rahman. He was instrumental in developing the world's first generic remdesivir for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. This is an irreparable loss to the organization and the country has lost an industry veteran whose exemplary contribution will always be remembered."

He is survived by his wife, a son and a daughter.
