Number of dengue patients rises slightly

Hospitals across Bangladesh admitted 469 dengue patients in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning

The number of dengue-infected patients has increased slightly after marking a drop. Although the rate of admission in hospitals increased 8 percent, the total number of dengue patients is still below 500.

Hospitals across Bangladesh admitted 469 dengue patients in the 24 hours to Tuesday morning, showing an increase of 8 percent as compared to the number of patients in the previous 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services.

Among the new patients, 131 and 338 have been admitted in hospitals in and outside Dhaka, respectively, which have taken the number of patients hospitalised with dengue this year to 85,757.

As many as 83,605 dengue patients have been released so far, while 1,928 were still in hospitals across the country, as on Tuesday morning.

The Institute of Epidemiology, Disease Control and Research (IEDCR) received reports concerning death of 224 people, suspected to be caused by dengue. Reviewing 126 of these reports, the IEDCR confirmed 75 deaths from dengue, said the health directorate.
